Donaghadee travelled to Portadown RFC on Saturday searching for their first league points of the season, having been shorn of two experienced backs in Nigel Barker and Billy Allen. Andrew Findlater came into the centre while Ryan Irvine took over at full back.
In a highly competitive game the Dee went down 34-19 having scored 3 tries and continued pushing for the losing bonus point try until the final whistle. Portadown scored at the start of each half which set the Dee on the back foot and forced them to play catch up Rugby. Lots of positives to be taken against one of the leagues front runners. When the team started believing in themselves the forwards gained parity with the heavyweights opposite and layed a platform for the backs to show what they could do with clean ball. Unfortunately those two soft early tries proved the teams undoing.
Scorers: Chris Good, Chris Hamilton and Paul McKenzie.
